Dilma Pinheiro is in Taiwan!

This is Dilma Pinheiro, our teddy bear. During iEARN Conference in Brasília I met teachers Chi Chen Wu, Margareth Chen and Chen Laychi. Dilma went with them to the city of Tainan in Taiwan.

Some time later we had a video conference and I could talk to the students. They welcomed Dilma and it was amazing!

Now, they have sent me Dilma's first adventures with them!

Paulista Avenue on Sunday!

It was a delightful Sunday having Paulista Avenue only for people. kids enjoying ice creams, skipping rope, strolling with their pets, people riding their bikes, skates or doing absolutelly, deliciously nothing! Old and young, rich and poor, Brazilians and foreigners, me, Magali and Eddy.

Trianon Park was our first stop. It is not very big but very enjoyable. I found some information about the Park on http://www.brazilmycountry.com/sao-paulo-attractions/trianon-park/

Magali, the guinea pig from Peru.

Magali looks at MASP, the arts museum where there is also a popular market on Sundays http://masp.art.br/masp2010/ visit also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulista_Avenue

Eddie, the echidna from Australia

Our next destination was Casa das Rosas (House of Roses) , a very important site which hosts good exhibitions and cultural events http://www.casadasrosas.org.br/

Roses everywhere!

39th International Films Festival is taking place in São Paulo. You can check the schedule on http://39.mostra.org/br/home/

We stopped by to watch a Capoeira group. Capoeira is i a Brazilian Martial Art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and music https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capoeira

Totally different with the cars and the chaos back at the end of the day. Hope to see you next Sunday!

Dear Diary

Touring the teddy bears through the city is surely enjoyable, blogging our experiences with the project has been fantastic, but writing diaries having proved to be very effective in registering our culture and sharing our teddies' daily routine with the kids.

Fofo, our baby hedgehog who has visited Teacher Ross Mackenzie and his students in Australia has returned with a diary full of pics and letters. Through Fofo's diary we can see that kids are learning a lot about Brazil and South America in Australia.

Miguel is our baby Jaguar. He has recently returned from Massachusetts in USA where he joined teacher Heidy Ganser's group. Miguel has also returned with his diary full of letters, pics and drawings from the kids.

Maria Eduarda, the cute little bear in the middle, has spent two years in Canada with teacher Mali Bickley and her students. This is valuable material, not only to study English but also to share and get to know other people's culture.

Magali has just arrived from Peru and joined 4th A and B students who are very engajed in writing her diary. We expect to produce short sentences in English very soon.

Younger kids from 2nd and 3rd grades are not supposed to write in English yet as they are learning how to write their mother language. So we resourt to pictures and drawings together with short entries in Porguese. This one is Eddie the echidna who came from Australia to join us.

Nina Pinheiro, our little pink flamingo has just returned from Peru with pictures, drawings and letters which were written in Spanish.
